Zippy Cups | Pre-order

$25.00

For mums and dads running on caffeine, dry shampoo & pure grit.

The Zippy Cup is not here for your slow, dreamy morning ritual. It’s here for the 7am panic where you’ve packed one lunchbox, lost one shoe, shouted “get in the car!” fourteen times, and reheated the same espresso twice. Maybe three times. Who’s counting?

This tiny-but-mighty cup is your ride-or-die for when you need a quick hit of Hot Brown (that’s coffee, not mystery fluid from the car floor) before the school run, Zoom call, or whatever fresh chaos the day holds. It’s handmade in small batches here in my muddy Murrumbateman studio—usually with a dog underfoot, a kid needing a snack, and me praying the kiln gods are feeling generous.

Each cup is one of a kind because let’s face it—matching sets are a fantasy sold by Pinterest and people who don’t live with toddlers. You can pick clean white or choose a colour family (earthy, vibrant, soft) and leave the rest to fate and glaze magic. No lids—because we don’t do fake travel mugs. This is a real cup for real moments.

And yes, you can take it with you. Just promise me you’ll only sip at the lights, not while reverse parking at the school gate with one AirPod in and Bluey blasting.

At a Glance:

  • Handmade, high vibe, zero fakery

  • Holds approx. 110-130ml of survival fuel

  • Choose white or a “close-your-eyes-and-trust-me” colour family

  • No lid, because we’re here for tactile joy, not tepid lattes

  • Made to order | Pre-orders now open

Zippy Cups: For when parenthood is chaos, but your cup is still cute.

Note: Size and shape vary slightly—just like our moods before coffee. Also, due to the alchemy of glaze and fire, final colours may differ. That’s the handmade magic.

How to care for your handmade pottery

Handcrafted & One of a Kind

Each Zippy Cup is handmade in my Murrumbateman studio with equal parts intention, caffeine, and chaos (usually while someone small is asking me what happens if you microwave a grape). These cups are wheel-thrown or handbuilt, then shaped, trimmed, and glazed by hand. They’re built to give you that instant yes-I-can moment in the middle of your full-tilt morning.

Unlike mass-produced cups that all look the same and feel a bit like regret, Zippy Cups are each gloriously unique. Shapes vary slightly. Colours surprise. But the result is always the same: you feel like a legend for taking three seconds to sip something that didn’t come from the kids’ half-drunk juice box.

Available in clean white or a colour family of your choosing (earthy, vibrant, soft), each Zippy Cup holds a perfect shot of espresso, macchiato, or cortado—whichever gets you over the line between “we’re running late” and “we’re only kind of late.”

A Slow & Intentional Process

Because even small cups deserve the full spa treatment.

  • Day 1–2: The cups are thrown or handbuilt—depending on the mood of the studio, the clay, and whether I’ve had my own espresso yet. Once shaped, they rest a bit. Like me, they need to gather themselves before the next stage.

Days 3–6: Time to trim, tidy, and refine the form. I clean up the shape, maybe add a cheeky stamp, and prep for glazing. Then the cups dry slowly and gently in a damp box (like a tiny clay day spa), so they don’t crack under pressure—unlike me in Week 3 of Term 2.

Days 7–10: Bisque firing time. They’re popped into the kiln for their first proper cook—turning them from soft, baby clay to ceramic grown-ups who can handle hot drinks and school run energy.

Days 11–13: Glazing begins! I brush on at least three coats of glaze by hand. No dipping, no shortcuts—just layer upon layer of rich, personality-packed colour. Or clean, minimalist white. It’s your cup, your chaos, your call.

Days 14–16: Glaze firing brings it all together. After three days of kiln heat, the colours dance, melt, and settle into their final magical finish. Then I sand the bottoms smooth and give each cup a warm, soapy bath. Because they deserve it. And so do you.
