How to care for your handmade pottery

Handcrafted & One of a Kind

Every curve, carving, and layer of glaze in The Rainmark Bowl is shaped by hand—no two are the same. The sgraffito technique adds movement and texture to the outer body, while the raw clay exterior provides an earthy contrast to the glossy, rain-washed interior.

A Slow & Intentional Process

Crafted with care, The Rainmark Bowl follows a thoughtful journey from clay to kiln:

  • Day 1-2: Handbuilding the bowl, shaping its organic form.

  • Day 3-4: Carving sgraffito markings into the surface, creating delicate rain-inspired patterns.

  • Day 5-6: Slow drying and refining.

  • Day 7-8: Applying multiple layers of the signature Petrichor glaze to the interior.

  • Day 9-10: High-temperature firing, deepening the contrast between raw clay and glaze.

  • Day 11: A final sanding and a warm, soapy bath before it’s ready for your home.

Acknowledgement of Country

At Whistle & Page, we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands, skies, and waters where we live, work, and create — in particular, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri Peoples of the Yass Valley, NSW. We honour their enduring connection to Country, and pay deep respect to Elders past and present, as well as emerging leaders carrying stories, knowledge, and culture forward. We recognise the unbroken strength, creativity, and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and the continuation of cultural, spiritual, and educational practices that have existed on this land for tens of thousands of years. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
