Handcrafted & One of a Kind
Each Zippy Cup is handmade in my Murrumbateman studio with equal parts intention, caffeine, and chaos (usually while someone small is asking me what happens if you microwave a grape). These cups are wheel-thrown or handbuilt, then shaped, trimmed, and glazed by hand. They’re built to give you that instant yes-I-can moment in the middle of your full-tilt morning.
Unlike mass-produced cups that all look the same and feel a bit like regret, Zippy Cups are each gloriously unique. Shapes vary slightly. Colours surprise. But the result is always the same: you feel like a legend for taking three seconds to sip something that didn’t come from the kids’ half-drunk juice box.
Available in clean white or a colour family of your choosing (earthy, vibrant, soft), each Zippy Cup holds a perfect shot of espresso, macchiato, or cortado—whichever gets you over the line between “we’re running late” and “we’re only kind of late.”
A Slow & Intentional Process
Because even small cups deserve the full spa treatment.
Day 1–2: The cups are thrown or handbuilt—depending on the mood of the studio, the clay, and whether I’ve had my own espresso yet. Once shaped, they rest a bit. Like me, they need to gather themselves before the next stage.
Days 3–6: Time to trim, tidy, and refine the form. I clean up the shape, maybe add a cheeky stamp, and prep for glazing. Then the cups dry slowly and gently in a damp box (like a tiny clay day spa), so they don’t crack under pressure—unlike me in Week 3 of Term 2.
Days 7–10: Bisque firing time. They’re popped into the kiln for their first proper cook—turning them from soft, baby clay to ceramic grown-ups who can handle hot drinks and school run energy.
Days 11–13: Glazing begins! I brush on at least three coats of glaze by hand. No dipping, no shortcuts—just layer upon layer of rich, personality-packed colour. Or clean, minimalist white. It’s your cup, your chaos, your call.
Days 14–16: Glaze firing brings it all together. After three days of kiln heat, the colours dance, melt, and settle into their final magical finish. Then I sand the bottoms smooth and give each cup a warm, soapy bath. Because they deserve it. And so do you.
