5-Week Pottery Workshop Course | Monday 10:30am | Murrumbateman
Two hours a week. No notifications. No rushing through. No “I’ll just quickly check this one thing.”
Just you, your hands, and a lump of clay that slowly starts to feel like second nature.
Welcome to The Pottery Low-Down—a five-week pottery course at Whistle & Page designed for the clay-curious, the creatively restless, and anyone ready for something more than a one-off moment.
Inside the studio (still very much TARDIS-like), something shifts. By week two, your shoulders drop a little quicker. By week three, your hands begin to remember what to do. By week four, you stop asking, “Am I doing this right?”—and start trusting your instincts instead.
You’ll be guided each week through simple, satisfying handbuilding techniques, building your skills gradually and gently—no overwhelm, no perfection required.
Your journey might look like this:
Week 1 — Getting comfortable (with the clay, the tools, and yourself)
An introduction to studio rhythms and pinch pots—the simplest, most grounding place to begin
Week 2 — Slowing down with slabs
Rolling, shaping, and beginning to see form take shape
Week 3 — Coiling & building upward
Structure, strength, and pieces that start to feel a little more ambitious
Week 4 — Decorating & storytelling
Sgraffito, slip trailing, underglaze—this is where your personality really comes through
Week 5 — Finishing touches
Refining, glazing, and bringing everything together before their final firing
Along the way, you’ll create a collection of functional, one-of-a-kind pieces—cups, bowls, plates, and forms that quietly find their place in your everyday life.
Your work will stay behind for its glow-up—carefully glazed and kiln-fired—before making its way back to you a few weeks later, ready to be used, held, and admired in all its imperfect beauty.
We’ll share light refreshments, easy conversation, and those small but significant moments where you realise…oh, I really needed this.
This isn’t just about learning pottery.
It’s about having somewhere to go each week that isn’t asking anything from you—except to show up.
Perfect for:
Beginner pottery courses, ongoing creative practice, mindful weekly rituals, and anyone craving a slower, more hands-on rhythm in Murrumbateman (just outside Canberra).
Spots are intentionally small.
