December has a way of arriving with forty-seven things to do, presents to buy and unfinished projects staring at you from around the house.

So, instead of adding another thing to the list, The Paper Trail Club is going on an adventure.

For our final gathering of 2026, we’re leaving our usual café table behind and heading to Blackwattle Alpaca Farm for a morning of handmade treasures, paper, creativity, good company and, naturally, alpacas.

Think of it as a tiny handmade farmers’ market, except nothing is for sale.

No price tags. No Christmas shopping. No competing.

Just making, sharing, swapping and spending a few hours doing something you enjoy.

The Handmade Exchange

The idea is simple.

If you’d like to take part, bring 10 small handmade things you have made yourself.

Cards, bookmarks, pottery, embroidery, zines, decorations, handmade stationery, tiny paintings, paper creations or whatever you love making.

They do not need to be expensive or perfect. Gloriously wonky is welcome.

Please don’t spend a fortune making ten things. This is not the Handmade Olympics. Something made at your kitchen table while watching Gilmore Girls absolutely counts.

When you arrive, your 10 handmade things become part of the exchange, and you receive 10 tokens.

Then you can browse, admire and choose 10 treasures from 10 different makers to take home.

No buying. No selling. No pricing. No competing.

Just something you made finding its way into someone else’s hands, while something made by another creative person comes home with you.

I think that is a rather lovely way to finish the year.

Not making 10 things? Come anyway.

The Handmade Exchange is completely optional.

You can spend the morning junk journaling, writing letters, making postcards, working on an unfinished project, swapping stationery, exploring the farm, meeting other creative women or simply enjoying a coffee with people who understand why paper quality is a perfectly reasonable topic of conversation.

You do not need to make anything, finish anything or be particularly crafty.

You can arrive with an empty tote bag and leave with a full one.

What will we be doing?

There will be creative tables to dip in and out of throughout the morning.

Junk journaling

Paper treasures, vintage scraps, old book pages, envelopes, tickets, maps and stickers will be waiting for you.

Make a page, add to your journal or simply enjoy sorting through paper like the stationery-loving magpie you are.

Letters & postcards

Write to someone you love, someone you miss, your future self or your Postmaster — that’s me.

There’ll be beautiful paper, postcards, pens and a postbox if you’d like to send something on its way.

The unfinished project table

Bring the project you’ve been meaning to return to.

The knitting. The embroidery. The journal. The thing you started months ago and have carried from room to room ever since.

You might finish it. You might make progress. You might decide you hate it.

All useful discoveries.

Stationery & craft swap

Have paper, stickers, washi tape, postcards or craft supplies you no longer need?

Bring a few along for our community swap.

Someone else’s abandoned craft phase may be exactly what your current creative obsession needs.

The Paper Trail time capsule

Before you leave, add a little note to our end-of-year Paper Trail time capsule.

Something you’re proud of. Something you want to remember about 2026. Something you learned. Something you hope for next year.

Or simply something that makes you laugh.

And, of course, there’ll be time to explore Blackwattle Alpaca Farm and visit the alpacas.

What’s included?

Your $15 ticket includes:

  • Event coordination

  • Light refreshments

  • Paper Trail Club creative activities and tables

  • Participation in The Handmade Exchange, if you choose

  • A morning at Blackwattle Alpaca Farm with a lovely group of creative women

Food and drinks purchased separately from the Blackwattle café are not included.

What should I bring?

Bring:

  • Yourself

  • Something to write with

  • A tote bag for your treasures

  • A creative project, if you have one

Taking part in the Handmade Exchange? Bring 10 small handmade things you have made yourself.

They can be identical, completely different or somewhere in between. Just make sure they’re finished, easy to carry and something you’d genuinely be happy to give another person.

You’re also welcome to bring a few things for the stationery and craft swap, but this is completely optional.

Most importantly, there is no pressure.

You do not have to make anything. You do not have to bring ten things. You do not have to finish your project. You do not have to know anyone when you arrive. And you absolutely do not have to explain why you own six identical notebooks.

The Paper Trail Club is about making room for the things we love, especially the things that get pushed down the list when life gets busy.

So let’s finish the year with our hands busy, our minds somewhere else for a while, new treasures in our bags and plenty of reasons to laugh.
