Why Pottery? Why Whistle & Page?
Pottery has a way of pulling us back to ourselves.
In a life filled with noise, notifications, and never-ending to-dos, clay offers a rare kind of stillness. The simple act of pressing your palms into the earth engages your senses, steadies your breath, and gives your mind a much-needed exhale. There’s science behind it, of course — the way handwork lights up the creative centres of the brain and soothes the nervous system — but there’s also something deeply human about it. It reminds us that creation doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.
Most people arrive curious; many leave surprised by how restorative it feels. And yes… it’s delightfully addictive. Once clay has found its way under your nails, you’ll want to return again and again.
(I could talk about this for hours — and often do. If you’d like to read more, you can dive deeper here.)
Why Whistle & Page?
Whistle & Page isn’t just a studio — it’s a philosophy: a small, heartfelt pause in the world, a place to step out of the rush and step into something slow, grounding, and joyful.
For these monthly Sunday workshops, I bring that spirit to a beautiful, bright, and welcoming space in North Canberra. Light floods the room, the atmosphere is calm and inviting, and every detail is chosen to help you feel at ease. Whether you’re craving a mindful, creative morning, a chance to meet like-minded people, or simply some restorative “me-time,” this is a space to reconnect with creativity, community, and your own two hands.
Every session is designed with intention: to help you unwind, spark your imagination, and leave with something made by you — a small reminder that beauty grows when we give ourselves time.
Let’s Get You Started
I’d love to share the gentle, grounding magic of pottery with you. These workshops aren’t about perfection; they’re about presence. They’re about conversations around the table, the laughter that comes when clay collapses, and the quiet pride of creating something you didn’t think you could.
Come as you are. Leave a little lighter.
A Few Practical Bits
Everything you need — tools, clay, guidance, and plenty of encouragement — is provided.
Any pieces needing finishing touches will be glazed in a soft white overglaze and fired for you.
Shipping is available if you can’t return to collect your work.
Due to limited space, finished pieces must be collected within 6 weeks of notification, after which any unclaimed work will need to be respectfully recycled or discarded.
So whether you’re making a quick weekend trip from Canberra, exploring our beautiful wine region, or simply craving some creative “me-time,” I’d be delighted to welcome you to the studio.
Come, slow down. Make something with your hands. Take home a little piece of country calm.
I can’t wait to share the clay, the conversation, and the community with you.
